Setting Up Alarms

Q: How do I create a new alarm?

A: Tap the "+ New Alarm" button on the main screen, set your desired time, choose your buddy character and game type, then tap "Save."

Q: How do I edit an existing alarm?

A: Tap on any alarm in your list to edit its settings, including time, sound, snooze duration, and repeat schedule.

Q: How do I delete an alarm?

A: Swipe left on any alarm and tap "Delete," or tap the alarm to open it and use the delete option located at the bottom of the page.

Alarm Functionality

Q: Why didn't my alarm go off?

A: Please check the following:

  • Ensure notifications are enabled for Alarm Buddy (Settings → Notifications → Alarm Buddy → Allow Notifications = ON)
  • Check that your device isn't in Do Not Disturb mode
  • Verify the alarm is toggled ON (green switch)
  • Make sure your device has sufficient battery
  • Confirm the alarm time is set correctly (AM/PM)
  • Check that your device volume is not muted

Q: Can I use custom alarm sounds?

A: Not right now. Each Buddy comes with its own fixed alarm sound, so when you pick a Buddy, you're picking the sound too. Custom sounds aren't supported—yet!

Q: How does the snooze feature work?

A: When your alarm goes off, first, you'll need to beat the mini-game. After that, you can choose to snooze the alarm. The snooze duration (default is 10 minutes) can be adjusted in your alarm settings.

Q: What are the different game types?

A: Alarm Buddy has two mini-games to help shake off the snooze:

1. Find Buddy
A grid of Buddies appears—only one is the right one. Tap around to find the match by trial and error. It's all about trusting your instincts!

2. Catch Buddy
A Buddy zips across the screen. Your goal? Stop it exactly on the target. It's a reflex test, so tap with perfect timing!

Each game helps wake up your brain in a different way. You can pick your challenge level when setting your alarm.

Settings & Preferences

Q: How do I change notification settings?

A: Go to your iPhone Settings → Notifications → Alarm Buddy to customize how alarm notifications appear.

Q: Can I set different sounds for different alarms?

A: Yep! Each alarm can have its own Buddy—and each Buddy comes with its own unique sound. Just pick a different Buddy for each alarm to mix things up!

Q: Can I set repeating alarms?

A: Yes! When creating or editing an alarm, select which days you want it to repeat (Monday, Tuesday, etc.).

Technical Issues

Q: The app crashes when I open it. What should I do?

A: Try these steps:

  1. Force close the app and reopen it
  2. Restart your device
  3. Check for app updates in the App Store

Q: Alarms don't sound when my phone is on silent mode. Is this normal?

A: Yes, this is standard iOS behavior. To ensure your alarm sounds, make sure your ringer volume is turned up. Alarm Buddy respects your device's sound settings.

Q: Can I sync my alarms across multiple devices?

A: Currently, Alarm Buddy stores all data locally on your device. Cloud sync is not available at this time.

Troubleshooting Guide

Alarms Not Working

Check these settings:

1. Notification Permissions

  • Go to Settings → Notifications → Alarm Buddy
  • Ensure "Allow Notifications" is enabled
  • Check that alerts are set to show on Lock Screen

2. Do Not Disturb / Focus Modes

  • Swipe down from top-right to open Control Center
  • Ensure Focus mode is off, or configure it to allow Alarm Buddy notifications

3. Device Settings

  • Make sure your device volume is up (use volume buttons)
  • Check that your device is not on silent mode (flip the side switch)
  • Ensure Low Power Mode isn't interfering (Settings → Battery)

4. App Settings

  • Open Alarm Buddy and verify the alarm is enabled (green toggle)
  • Check that the time is correct (AM vs PM)
  • Verify the alarm hasn't been accidentally deleted

5. Keep App Updated

  • Check the App Store for updates
  • Install the latest version for bug fixes and improvements
